A gorgeous pair of black, striped cotton stockings circa late 19th to early 20th century. If you're a stocking expert perhaps you can get a bit closer to an exact date!
I was able to find some very similar styles in an 1882 catalog, see photos.
On one heel is a printed four digit number that is a bit faded. These are sturdy and would certainly be wearable with care.
