Sepia work was done using pulverized hair to paint scenes on jewelry and art pieces. These pieces were typically memorials for lost loved ones.
This incredible ring dates from the 1700s during the Georgian era. The image you see includes symbolism that is somewhat typical of memorial jewelry, such as the weeping willow and urn. A bit more unique is the double sacred heart imagery, which could symbolize the hearts of Jesus and Mary.
The ring is unmarked but has been tested. The band tests as 18k and the setting is slightly lower karat, around 15k.

The ring is in remarkable condition, especially considering its age. There is some very minor wear to the sepia itself, but it does not detract from the beauty of this incredibly special piece. DO NOT get this piece wet or allow it to come in contact with moisture.
