This sweet little brooch features a small lock of light colored hair, perhaps blond or maybe grey, I cannot quite tell.
The brooch is a gold filled with a repousse frame and shows minor signs of age-related surface wear but is in wonderful condition, wearable, and the mechanism functions perfectly.
The brooch could have been worn as a mourning piece or possibly as a sentimental piece of jewelry for a loved one. It dates from the early Victorian era or possibly late Georgian, in the first half of the 19th century.
I have not cleaned or polished this piece. If you prefer, it could shine up nicely with a quick polish. However, I usually leave that up to the buyer as many people prefer the antique patina.
