Brilliant silver and black dot paste ring, converted from a button, circa early 19th century.
Black dot paste was made to simulate early cut diamonds and is recognizable by the tiny black dot in the center of each stone.
Paste was a popular cut glass stone introduced near the second half of the Georgian period (1714 to 1837) and maintained popularity through the Victorian era (1837 to 1901).
Many paste stones are incredibly beautiful, especially the older more finely made stones, black dot paste being among the finest. The stones set into this ring are a fine example and sparkly brightly in the light.
Both band and setting are sterling silver, unmarked but tested.

Measures as a size 5.5 US but may be better suited to a slightly smaller size due to the shape, size, and back side of the converted button, which has a thick line of silver down the middle, as shown in the photos.
