This incredible silk lace bodice circa 1900 is beautifully constructed and feels very much like a couture piece. Unfortunately there is no label to identify the maker, but the detailing and quality are just superb.
It is mostly hand sewn. Satin silk lining. Tissue silk lining inside the collar and sleeves, backing the lace. Fancy, wide ribbon trim and decoration.
Large, alternating hook and eye closures up most of the back, with hook and thread closures going up starting around the upper middle and to the top of the high, boned collar.
There are also three large, unique hooks (marked Nicholl's) and threads to secure the trim, and hooks and threads to secure the lace in place over some of the other hook closures. The tight-fitting sleeves also have hook and thread closures at the cuffs. Two round, thread covered hooks on the back would have help secure the skirt in place.
Bodice is boned all around and lined with silk. It has a dipped waistline with slight pooch in the front.
The lace has a very beautiful, delicate floral motif.

Lovely condition overall with a few flaws to note:
- The tissue silk lining in the sleeves has some damage, and the tissue silk lining of the collar has some small holes and tears
- Some faint discoloration in the silk here and there, but no apparent stains
- Some wear/small holes around the lower waist area
Likely best for study or display due to age and delicate nature of the silk.
