These gorgeous boots date from around the turn of the century, c. 1890s-early 1900s.
Black leather with diamond toe stitching and scalloped top edge. These tall lace up boots were likely sold as cycling boots, and I have included some ads from the era (1897 and 1898) showing very similar styles advertised for this purpose.
Cycling became a popular sport for women in the 1890s, causing a surge in cycling related fashion, including specialized cycling outfits, skirts and bloomers, boots, and even corsets designed for this new sport.

Very fitted, they follow the curve of ankle and calf and are made of a thin, flexible leather.

Marked with some numbers inside, but it's unclear what size is indicated. I believe the first number is 23. However, the measurements indicate these are an approximate US ladies' size 5. Please check the measurements and go by those!

Best for a collector, for study or display. Wearable with extra care for a photo shoot (but I wouldn’t recommend for anything else). In very good condition but the leather is thin and old.
