Beautiful silk paisley mantle circa 1880s. This isn't quite a cape and not a coat either--it is fitted around the shoulders and has space for arms but no sleeves / armholes.
There are two hook and eye closures, one at the collar and another a bit further down, past the bust.
It has a lovely shape, designed to be worn over a dress with a bustle. A truly elegant piece in such gorgeous fall colors. I love the burgundy silk lining!

Lovely condition overall for her age. There are a few seams that have come undone along the bottom edge, as shown. An easy fix or could be left as is. Faint wear to the lining and a small faint white mark on the sleeve.
