Gorgeous wool silk paisley mantle circa 1870s-1880s. Not quite a cape and not quite a coat, this type of outerwear was designed to be worn over a dress with a bustle or full skirts.
Beautiful frog and toggle closures. Extremely soft fringe. A black silk tie on the inside of the waist allows for some adjustment.

Good condition for her age with some age-related wear and minor flaws. Missing a small section of fringe (1-2"). The silk backing behind the closures shows some wear and tear. The fabric is somewhat thin and unlined, and there are some small holes visible when held up the the light. Small section of fringe in collar has come loose.
