This very special piece dates from the 19th century and it has a little surprise. Not only is it a beautiful perfume case, housing two gilt edge glass perfume bottles, but it is also a music box!
A red satin interior appears to be a 20th century restoration, but it has been done beautifully, with a gold cord trim.
The lovely glass bottles nestle snugly inside this fabulous walnut burl veneer box, and you can still detect a bit of the old perfume fragrance when you open them. The top of the box features a beautiful inlaid design.
A brass winding mechanism can be found on the bottom of the box, along with four brass feet.
A truly magical piece that would make a wonderful gift.

Lovely condition with some minor surface wear, faint scratches, and a few cracks and chips in the veneer. The lining does appear to have been replaced/totally restored.
I am uncertain if the key is original but the locking mechanism does not appear to function.
The music box functions wonderfully.
The bottles are in good condition and there is a remnant of perfume fragrance still inside.
