Fabulous chatelaine circa 1900s to 1910s, all pieces marked as sterling silver. It includes a mesh purse, memo book, and pencil.
Purse is engraved with the initials "CB" and the memo book is engraved with what appear to be the initials "LCB" though the first letter is difficult to decipher.
The memo book and pencil are both easily removable, as they are attached to the end of the chains by spring ring clasps. The purse is more permanently attached.
There is no lead in the pencil, but it does seem to function.
In the photos I have included a page from a 1911 R. H. Macy & Co. catalog showing a very similar chatelaine.
