This incredible 15k gold pearl and ruby ring dates from 1862 and has a very unique band! The outside is very ornately decorated and the inside is hollow with little openings all around! It was designed to house a small piece of plaited hairwork from a loved one.
It is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1862 and 15k gold. It has an HH maker's mark, but I am not certain who this maker was (a very skilled one, though!).
Behind the stones, on the inside face of the band, there is an engraving of three letters: W.E.F.
I really hope someone purchases this ring to have their own custom hairwork added to it! Please contact me if you would like a recommendation for an artist, as I know of an excellent one who uses historical methods.

Lovely condition overall, especially for its age, with minor age-related wear and patina. Some small scratches and wear inside the band where the hairwork once was. A very tiny dent in the back of the band, not noticeable.
There is no hairwork in the space around the band, meaning you can have your own custom work added if desired. I know of a great artist who does this and would love to give you a recommendation if you are interested!
