A stunning silk gown in a spectacular green circa 1860s.
It is impossible to know for certain without running tests, but due to the coloring and the way this dress has faded, it appears to have been dyed with a toxic green dye containing arsenic, the most well known of these being Scheele's Green.
Bearing this in mind, this dress should certainly not be worn, and should be handled with extra care.
The dress is two pieces, a bodice and skirt. The bodice buttons down the front and has four short boning channels in the front. It has wonderful green fringe trim running around the front and around the back of the bodice. There is a braided silk trim as well just above the fringe and on the cuffs as well.
The skirt has a train and a hook closure on the side. There is a single, deep pocket in the skirt.
The bodice is lined, and the skirt is mostly unlined with the exception of the hemline.

The dress is in fair condition, with some flaws to note:
- Missing two buttons on the front of the bodice
- Missing two buttons on the back of the bodice where the skirt would have attached
- Underarm stains
- Missing the "eye" to the hook on the skirt closure
- Color fading to the front of the gown, the back and inside are a more vivid green
- The trim has come loose in several places but is still mostly attached
- A few small holes
- The hem lining is coming loose in a few places
