The head is some kind of celluloid or plastic and it is hollow inside, which gives it a wonderful glowing quality when lit from surrounding light sources. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe box also features some hand carved elements on the top, sides, and back, reminiscent of so-called \"tramp art\" from the time period. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe top is hinged and has two clasps to keep it closed. Inside there are three compartments, great for holding small treasures. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI am not an expert in wood types, but my guess would be that it is some kind of oak.
